Bound Veterans In Wheelchairs Are Entertained By A Stripper In A Nursing Facility

A Taiwanese nursing home has apologised after video footage of senior citizens being entertained by an erotic dancer during a national holiday surfaced. After being filmed in lacy red and black lingerie giving a lap dance to an elderly resident last week, the Taoyuan Veterans Home, a state-run facility for retired army personnel, admitted the scantily clad entertainer's actions were "too enthusiastic and fiery." Senior citizens in wheelchairs and staff are seen clapping as the dancer, dressed in high heels and a medical face mask, performs a raunchy dance and rubs her chest against one man's face. While some of the residents appeared to be enjoying the entertainment, the facility later apologised after a video of the performance went viral on social media. "The event's goal was to entertain and please the residents." "We sincerely apologise for any offence caused," it said in a statement. According to a spokesperson, the goal was to lift spirits during the Mid-Autumn Festival period because previous events had been cancelled due to the pandemic. A more sedate game of bingo was also enjoyed by the elderly men. As some parts of East Asian society practise a folk religion that believes in entertaining spirits, dancers and even strippers have been known to perform at Taiwanese funerals. In 2017, 50 pole dancers gyrated on top of colourful jeeps blasting loud music at the funeral of Taiwanese politician Tung Hsiang in the southern city of Chiayi. According to the BBC, his family wanted to honour Mr Tung, who enjoyed "having a lively fun time." A drumming troupe, a marching band, and performers dressed as deities and giant puppets were also part of the procession. The event lit up social media.
