On Thursday, Roger announced his retirement, saying he would make his final appearance at the Laver Cup next week. The Laver Cup would allow Roger to play the final match of his career as “Massive 4”. As part of Group Europe, Rafael Nadal, with 22 Grand Slam titles to his name, will feature 22 Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic and two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray all taking part. And Roger said of them, “I was fortunate enough to play so many epic matches that I will always remember.”
Rafael Nadal tweeted a tribute to Roger and wrote, ‘Precious Roger, my friend and rival. I wish no one comes today. This is an unhappy day for me personally and for sports activities around the world. It has been a pleasure, but also an honor and privilege, to share so many years with you, sharing so many wonderful moments in and out of the courtroom.”
“We may have a lot of extra moments to share sooner or later, yet there are a lot of issues to do collectively, we all know that. Right now, I really need to be with your spouse, Mirka, your youngsters and your loved ones. Wishing everyone the best of luck and enjoy what lies ahead. I’m going to see you in London @LaverCup”, he added.

Legendary tennis player Serena Williams welcomed Roger Federer to tennis “retirement membership” with an Instagram post. He wrote, “I wanted to find the right technique to say it, because you put this game to rest so well – completely finished, similar to your profession”.
“I’ve always looked like you and admired you. Our paths were always connected, how connected. You, along with me, have touched millions and millions of people – and we will always remember that.”
